Found a stag beetle!

There was an overturned stag beetle lying on the porch of my house.
This kind of bug, such as beetles and cicadas seem to be unable to right themselves if they tip over on a flat surface and don't have something to grab onto. It seems like this guy has been this stile for quite some time.
It was flapping owns legs, the right hind leg was torn off in the middle.

Actually, this was the first time I've seen a wild stag beetle.
I caught it and put it on a nearby tree, then it grabbed onto it tightly.
It was gone somewhere when I went to look at it a while later.
Don't fall again!
